Rich was born and raised in the small town of Maynard located in Northeast Iowa. For 27 years he owned and operated a livestock and grain farm in that area. Since 2004 he has lived in the Cedar Valley with 2 of his 5 children graduating from Cedar Falls High School and one still attending there as a freshman. He has two grand children, Max 5 years old and Madelynne 3.
